Went to a Houseware show today at the UnConvention Center - I always liked that name. The show offered a nice break from all of the traditional Chinese garbage that I'm so used to seeing at these shows. Saw pillow cases from Madagascar, wooden vases from Ghana and Bolivia, ottmans from Morocco and beautiful weaves and fabrics from Peru and Mexico. Colors galor. Lots of Chinese goods lack color because it keeps the prices down. There is also a wonderful organization called Aid to Artisans http://aidtoartisans.org/ that helps many small manufacturers and workshops in developing countries bring their goods to the shows and to market. They were there with lots of small companies with large dreams and beautiful product.
Also took a tram to Roosevelt Island for the second time in so many days. Best 2 dollars you can spend in the city.
Advanced a buck twenty at the club and now to bed.
Peace
